To a greater extent than many other pursuits, caving activities succeed on team work both inside the cave and out. Techniques are most effectively learned from experienced cavers whilst underground.

Under the current scouting policies, to go caving if you are under the age of 18, you will require a ‘Form Cave’ holder, however, it is not advisable if you are inexperienced and over the age of 18 to go caving without the relevant qualified instructor.

The county caving team aims to give the opportunity for novice groups to go caving with qualified instructors and also aims to run trips for more experienced cavers with the hope that more people will acquire a ‘Form Cave’.

The county caving team regularly runs trips tailor made to each group's experience with added trips for leader training. To find out more about this contact the county caving advisor. Details on our Contacts page. We have also now produced a guide to arranging a trip.
