The county team can sometimes run a Troop / Unit night about caving, this can be useful for badge awards. The evening lasts for approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours and can consist of a slide show, a talk on cave conservation and how caves are formed, some rope & ladder practice, knot practice and a relay race using caving equipment.

A small group is taken through some slides and told how caves are formed.
Whilst the other leaders show the rest of the group some the rope techniques and knots used
by cavers.

This group is taking part in a game that is designed to explain some of the rope techniques used by cavers.

Scouts are shown how to tie a lifeline to themselves using a bowline.
